E-Vignan:
There are several problems which affect Rural India but amongst them, a major problem is that literacy amongst farmers and rural folk of India which is very low. Emerging technologies such as Natural Language Interfaces and the Next Generation Internet will enable several innovative application in e-learning and enable parallel learning by helping to break the cycle of literacy followed by computer literacy. Through this technology the villager will be freed from his lack of literacy and inability to communicate to various platforms in the society.
E-learning technologies have great potential to spread learning, however the benefits of these technologies have to reach the rural masses of India, if not they will be one of the causes of the Digital Divide. The challenge before the country is to enhance rural connectivity and engage evolving technologies in the field of education by facilitating distance learning and creating virtual classrooms. The gap between the digital haves and have-nots has narrowed significantly; but the aim should be to reach the same level of growth in rural areas as in urban areas. Bridging the divide is all about making communication affordable, accessible and reliable for all classes of people, both urban and rural.
